Where Has Felix Rosenqvist Gone Since Winning the Indianapolis 500?
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Just two months ago, Felix Rosenqvist was the biggest story in American motorsports.
The Meyer Shank Racing driver won the 110th Indianapolis 500 in the closest finish in race history, edging David Malukas by just 0.0233 seconds to capture his first Borg-Warner Trophy and become only the third Swedish winner of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
Since then?
The spotlight has shifted elsewhere.
It’s not that Rosenqvist has been bad. He hasn’t.
It’s that he hasn’t been the weekly contender many expected after his breakthrough victory. While Alex Palou has continued piling up wins and extending his championship lead, Rosenqvist has quietly slipped out of the weekly conversation despite remaining sixth in the IndyCar standings.
Part of that is simply the nature of IndyCar.
Winning the Indianapolis 500 doesn’t guarantee momentum. The series is too competitive, the schedules vary dramatically from ovals to road courses, and a few average finishes can quickly push a driver out of the headlines.
Rosenqvist’s season has also been overshadowed by off-track news. In June, Meyer Shank Racing confirmed the reigning Indy 500 champion will leave the team after the 2026 season, with his future becoming one of IndyCar’s biggest Silly Season storylines. Reports later linked him to Arrow McLaren for 2027.
The speed hasn’t disappeared.
The results just haven’t matched the magic of May.
That’s often the burden of winning the Indianapolis 500. Expectations change overnight. Before Indy, a top-five finish is celebrated. After drinking the milk, anything less than competing for victories every weekend can feel underwhelming.
